Mohommadi

The most popular rug currently woven in Afghanistan is the classic Khal Mohommadi. Handmade by the Turkomans in the north of Afghanistan, the primary colours are deep earthy red and contrasting tones of indigo blue.

The specific weave, dying techniques and original designs of the Mohammadi are attributed to the famous Afghan rug merchant and master rug dyer, Khal Mohammadi.
